India is set to face the Netherlands in the Round 1 Qualifiers of the Davis Cup on February 7 and 8 at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) Stadium. The two-day event will kick off with singles matches on the first day, followed by doubles and reverse singles on the second day. The official draw ceremony is scheduled for February 6, adding to the anticipation of an exciting weekend of team tennis.

Ranked 33rd globally, India will be up against the 4th ranked Netherlands, the runners-up in the 2024 Davis Cup. India’s singles lineup will feature Sumit Nagal, Dhakshineswar Suresh, and Karan Singh, while Yuki Bhambri and Rithvik Bollipalli will handle the doubles matches. The team is led by captain Rohit Rajpal, with Ashutosh Singh as the coach.

The Netherlands team is expected to rely on Jesper de Jong and Guy den Ouden for singles matches, with David Pel and Sander Arends forming a strong doubles team under captain Paul Haarhuis. Sunil Yajaman, Honorary Joint Secretary of KSLTA, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming tie, emphasizing the importance of home support in Davis Cup matches.

Tickets for the event are now available for purchase on Ticketgenie. Bengaluru, known for its rich Davis Cup history, has hosted various tennis matches over the years, including encounters against Australia, Sweden, Indonesia, Serbia, and Uzbekistan. The Indian tennis team has reached the finals three times previously, in 1966, 1974, and 1987.

In their recent qualification for the 2026 qualifiers, India secured a 3-1 victory against Switzerland, marking their first win over a European team since 1993. Led by Sumit Nagal and Dhakshineswar Suresh, this performance stands as India’s best result since the competition format changed in 2019.
