There is no fuel shortage in India as the country currently has sufficient crude oil stock, stated Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Addressing Parliament, Puri emphasized the secure energy volume in India, highlighting that the nation’s crude supply position is stable. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomatic efforts for securing volumes that surpass what the disrupted Strait of Hormuz could have provided.
India is proactively diversifying its energy import sources beyond West Asia amidst escalating geopolitical tensions. The minister assured that domestic gas supplies remain steady, ensuring energy security. Despite ongoing conflicts in the region, India continues to receive energy imports from around 40 countries through various supply routes, maintaining fuel stability. Puri also confirmed that domestic consumers are receiving full supplies of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG).
Puri reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted and affordable energy supply for households nationwide. He reassured that there is no shortage for domestic consumers and urged against panic. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs disclosed that India is actively assisting its nationals in Iran and addressing safety concerns related to shipping and energy security in West Asia. The External Affairs Minister and the Foreign Minister of Iran have engaged in discussions regarding shipping safety and energy security, reflecting India’s proactive stance in the region.
