India emphasized its growing maritime partnership with Malaysia as the Indian Navy’s research vessel, INS Sagardhwani, wrapped up a successful interaction with the Royal Malaysian Navy at Port Klang. The visit facilitated valuable exchanges between the two navies, focusing on professional and scientific collaborations. The Royal Malaysian Navy warmly received INS Sagardhwani earlier in the week, fostering discussions on modern hydrographic practices and oceanographic technologies.
During the port call, personnel from both countries shared knowledge on marine environmental research and the latest advancements in oceanographic technologies. A delegation from the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Malaysian Navy visited the vessel to acquaint themselves with its onboard oceanographic systems. The engagement also included a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) between specialist officers, concentrating on data-centric maintenance approaches and navigation safety tools.
The Commanding Officer of INS Sagardhwani met with the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the vessel’s ongoing oceanographic mission and enhance scientific cooperation. Prior to its Malaysian visit, INS Sagardhwani successfully concluded a trip to Cam Ranh, Vietnam, where the Commanding Officer engaged with key military officials. INS Sagardhwani, a specialized oceanographic research vessel commissioned in July 1994, has played a crucial role in marine scientific research, particularly in marine acoustics and naval oceanography.
