Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted that India has kept petrol and diesel prices stable for over four years, despite global energy market fluctuations. Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Surat, Puri emphasized India’s resilience amidst global challenges like wars and supply chain disruptions. He noted that while India maintained steady fuel prices, neighboring countries experienced significant price hikes, shortages, and rationing.
Puri commended India for avoiding reactive policy decisions based on panic, ensuring economic stability across electoral cycles. The discussions at the conference focused on energy security and economic resilience, part of Gujarat’s regional outreach under the Vibrant Gujarat initiative. Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil also addressed the gathering, praising Surat’s industrial contributions to national infrastructure and defense manufacturing.
Patil highlighted the role of Surat’s industries in key national projects, such as the Chenab Rail Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir and the production of K9 Vajra artillery systems at L&T’s Hazira facility. He emphasized the importance of water management, citing the creation of over 70 lakh water conservation structures to enhance storage capacity. Patil urged industries to adopt sustainable practices to reduce groundwater extraction, noting Surat’s innovative wastewater management and long-term water planning strategies.
