India’s Tilak Varma and Washington Sundar are at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to recover from injuries before the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup. Tilak, a key player in India’s T20I team, had surgery for a lower abdominal issue, while Washington sustained a rib injury during the ODI series against New Zealand.
Ravi Bishnoi replaces Washington in the T20I squad, and Shreyas Iyer steps in for Tilak in the upcoming matches. Both players are undergoing rehab programs at the CoE, with Washington awaiting further tests. The Indian team management aims to have all players fit for the T20 World Cup in February.
Rishabh Pant, India’s Test vice-captain, is expected to join the rehab program soon for a right side-strain. Pant sustained the injury during a practice session before the ODI series against New Zealand. The team hopes to resolve all injury concerns before the T20 World Cup.
