India has guaranteed eight medals at the 33rd Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships in Panzhihua, China. Shiven Agarwal led the charge by guiding a group into the semifinals across various categories. Shiven, seeded 5/8, triumphed over Singapore’s Rehaan Singh in the boys’ U-17 quarterfinals and is set to face Indian Squash Academy trainee Lokesh Subramani in the semifinals.
Aryaveer Dewan, the reigning boys’ U-17 champion, progressed to the U-19 semifinals after a hard-fought victory over Yusha Nafees. Noteworthy performances also came from Anika Dubey in girls’ U-17, Abhyuday Arora and Amarya Bajaj in boys’ U-13, and Shanaya Parasrampuria and Divyanshi Jain in girls’ U-13.
In a standout moment, Hridhaan Shah of India defeated Malaysian top seed Muhammad Haiqal Hazim Bin Syarudin in the boys’ U-17 pre-quarterfinals. The Indian contingent saw Lokesh Subramani and Shiven Agarwal join Hridhaan in the quarterfinals, with Aryaveer Dewan, Gurveer Singh, and Yusha Nafees advancing in the boys’ U-19 category.
The Indian representation extended to the last-eight stage across various categories, with notable names including Abhyuday Arora, Dhairya Gogia, Amarya Bajaj, Alia Kankaria, Shresht Iyer, Dhruv Bopana, Aadya Budhia, and Unnati Tripathi showcasing their skills. The quarterfinal results saw intense matchups and impressive displays of talent.
