Suraj Singh and Sagar Singh won silver medals, leading India’s strong start in the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships’ Greco-Roman category in Da Nang, Vietnam. Alongside them, Kumar Sachin, Rohit, and Hardeep also contributed with bronze medals in their respective weight divisions. Suraj Singh’s impressive performance in the 60kg category earned him a silver medal after a tough final against Kazakhstan’s Aibek Aitbekov.

Sagar Singh, competing in the 67kg category, displayed commendable skills but settled for silver after a defeat by technical superiority to Uzbekistan’s Aytjan Khalmakhanov in the final. Kumar Sachin secured a bronze in the 77kg category despite a loss to Kazakhstan’s Alikhan Dursunov. Rohit narrowly missed a medal in the 97kg division, while Hardeep fell short in the 130kg bout against Kazakhstan’s Jokhar Uzarov.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Sanjay Singh praised the wrestlers’ determination and discipline, hailing the five-medal performance as a sign of India’s progress in Greco-Roman wrestling at the continental level. India’s previous success in the U23 Greco-Roman category and the recent achievements in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, were also highlighted, showcasing the country’s improving performance in the sport.

India’s Greco-Roman campaign will continue with Neeraj, Sumit, and Rohit Bura competing in different weight categories on the upcoming day, aiming for podium finishes.
