India concluded a successful campaign at the Asian Relays Championships 2026 in Shangyu, China, by clinching a gold medal in the women’s 4x100m relay. The team of Srabani Nanda, Sneha SS, Sudeshna Shivankar, and Tamanna clocked a season-best time of 43.85 seconds, marking a significant victory for India.
In addition to the gold, India secured a silver medal in the 4x400m mixed relay event. The team, comprising Olympian MR Poovamma, Neeru Pathak, Theerthesh P Shetty, and Barath Sridhar, finished second with a time of 3:17.06, behind Kazakhstan. India’s national record in this event stands at 3:12.87, achieved in 2024.
Furthermore, India also claimed a bronze medal in the 4x100m mixed relay. The team, including Animesh Kujur, Pranav Gurav, Tamanna, and Sneha Shanuvalli, finished with a time of 41.47 seconds. This event served as a crucial test for Indian relay teams ahead of upcoming competitions like the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
The Asian Relays Championships provided valuable experience for Indian athletes, with India set to host the next edition of the championships in Chandigarh in 2027. The previous edition in Bangkok in 2024 saw India’s success in various relay events, highlighting the country’s growing prowess in athletics.
