India wrapped up their participation in the men’s section of the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, with remarkable performances in the finals. In the U-23 category, India secured two gold medals through Vishvanath Suresh (50kg) and Ganga (55kg), along with a silver medal by Vanshaj (65kg). Suresh triumphed over Japan’s Daichi Iwai, while Ganga defeated Kazakhstan’s Bexulatn Boranbek.
In the U-19 men’s finals, Indian boxers displayed strong efforts but settled for silver medals. Aditya (55kg) lost to Uzbekistan’s Elyor Rustamov, and Shubham Rajput (90kg) was defeated by Asadbek Sultanboev from Uzbekistan. The women’s section saw India excel, securing a total of five gold, 10 silver, and four bronze medals across U-19 and U-23 categories in the finals.
India’s performance in the U-19 women’s category was particularly impressive, with two gold and six silver medals. Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari (51kg) and Prachi stood out with gold medals. In the U-23 women’s category, India clinched one gold, four silver, and four bronze medals. Nisha (54kg) led the charge with a gold medal after defeating Japan’s Koiin Kokufu.
The championships, held in Jakarta from July 5 to July 16, 2026, showcased India’s dominance in men’s boxing, especially in the U-23 division. The Indian boxers demonstrated exceptional skills and determination, securing victories against top international opponents.
