India excelled in the women’s section of the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. They secured a total of five gold, 10 silver, and four bronze medals across the U-19 and U-23 categories. In the U-19 women’s division, India claimed two gold and six silver medals, showcasing the strength of its youth program.
Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari (51kg) and Prachi stood out by winning gold medals in their respective bouts. Pujari defeated Uzbekistan’s Nazokat Mardonova, while Prachi emerged victorious against Indonesia’s Dira Artika. Despite strong performances, other Indian finalists in the U-19 category settled for silver medals, contributing to the team’s overall success.
Moving to the U-23 women’s category, India continued its impressive run with one gold, four silver, and four bronze medals. Nisha (54kg) led the charge by securing a gold medal with a dominant victory over Japan’s Koiin Kokufu. However, Nikita Chand (60kg), Kajal (65kg), and Muskan (75kg) had to settle for silver medals after facing tough opponents from Uzbekistan. The bronze medals were earned through semifinal finishes, highlighting India’s consistency across weight divisions.
India’s performance underscores its depth and dominance in youth boxing, especially in the women’s section. The country’s success at the continental level demonstrates a strong talent pool excelling in both U-19 and U-23 categories.
