India’s dominance in the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships continued as nine boxers secured spots in the finals across U-19 men’s and women’s categories, with six boxers claiming bronze medals after the semifinals in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the U-19 Women’s category, all eight Indian boxers excelled to reach the finals.
Chahat (60kg) triumphed with a 5:0 victory over Pei-Chun Tsai (TPE), Anshika (75kg) won by RSC in the first round against An-Chi Tseng (TPE), Megha Sheokand (80kg) advanced due to her Vietnamese opponent’s inability to continue, and Prachi Tokas (+81kg) secured a final spot with an RSC win in the first round against Shu-Shian Wang (TPE). India confirmed all 8 finalists in the U-19 women’s category.
In the U-19 men’s category, two Indian boxers made it to the finals. Aditya (55kg) defeated Korea’s Hyeonmin Lee via RSC in the second round, while Shubham Rajput (90kg) claimed a hard-fought 3:2 victory over Kyrgyzstan’s Aitbek Berdimuratov. Additionally, India clinched six bronze medals from the semifinals.
Sikander (60kg), Mausam Suhag (65kg), Devendra Chaudhary (75kg), and Sagar (85kg) secured bronze medals in the U-19 men’s category after their semifinal losses. India’s exceptional depth and dominance at the youth level, especially in the women’s division, were evident with a clean sweep into the finals.
The Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships are taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from July 5 to July 16, 2026.
