India presented its deep-tech startup initiative, ‘Bharat Innovates 2026,’ to global investors and stakeholders at a Paris roadshow, gearing up for an upcoming conclave in Nice. The event highlighted India’s deep-tech startup ecosystem and innovation landscape driven by higher education to an audience comprising global investors, corporates, universities, and research institutions.
Representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Embassy of India in Paris, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) participated in the Paris event, which also saw over 50 attendees from the French business and innovation sectors coming together. Key participants included French entities like La French Tech, VivaTech, ESCP Business School, ESSEC, INRIA, and members of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce, alongside venture capital firms, advisory groups, legal entities, and startup networks.
The roadshow acted as a platform to inform potential investors and partners about the objectives, scope, and investment prospects associated with Bharat Innovates 2026. K.M. Praphullachandra Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education, emphasized the initiative’s role in enhancing international collaboration, especially within the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership. Additionally, Govind Jaiswal, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education, presented opportunities for French and global investors to engage with India’s rapidly expanding innovation ecosystem.
Bharat Innovates 2026 will concentrate on 13 frontier technology sectors, including advanced computing, semiconductors, next-generation communications, advanced materials, biotechnology, space and defense, and Industry 4.0 manufacturing. The inaugural edition aims to take India’s top 120 deep-tech startups to France to facilitate pilots, co-development, investments, research partnerships, manufacturing, and market access. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this initiative on February 17 during the India-France Year of Innovation launch in the presence of the French President. The event is scheduled to take place from June 14-16 at the Palais des Expositions in Nice, France.
