Former diplomat Veena Sikri criticized the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government, labeling it as “illegitimate” and holding it accountable for attacks on minorities. She condemned the atrocities against Hindu minorities, citing specific incidents and urging global action against the government. Sikri also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to protect minorities in Bangladesh.
Another former diplomat, K.P. Fabian, raised alarm over the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh, attributing the chaos to the interim Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus’s inability to control escalating violence. He pointed out external influences exacerbating the situation, particularly forces hostile to India gaining influence and efforts by Pakistan and China to disrupt India-Bangladesh relations.
