India emphasized the importance of reformed multilateralism and cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to tackle global challenges effectively. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, speaking at the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Kyrgyzstan, highlighted the impact of evolving world dynamics on the Global South. He underlined the need for the SCO to promote an inclusive and multipolar international order based on sovereignty and international law.

Singh reiterated India’s commitment to collaborating with all SCO member states for a secure, stable, and inclusive organization that aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. He stressed the significance of meaningful cooperation among member states to address contemporary global issues. Singh also expressed confidence in the SCO’s efforts to combat terrorism, radicalization, and illicit activities for regional cohesion and prosperity.

At the meeting, Singh announced India’s plan to host the first SCO Civilizational Dialogue Forum later this year. This initiative aims to leverage accumulated wisdom for the collective benefit of present and future generations. Prime Minister Modi is set to deliver the keynote address, with India looking forward to active participation from all SCO members. India reiterated its commitment to fostering a secure, stable, and responsive SCO that meets the aspirations of its people.
