India has emphasized the need to restore stability and security in West Asia, showing support for ongoing initiatives to halt the conflict, as per the Iranian Foreign Ministry. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in a phone discussion with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, to address recent developments in the region. Araghchi highlighted the alleged severe actions by US and Israeli forces against Iran, including attacks on various infrastructures and nuclear facilities under safeguards.
During the conversation, Araghchi underscored the international community and the United Nations’ role in addressing violations of international law and preventing the normalization of war crimes. He also emphasized Iran’s people and armed forces’ resolute commitment to safeguard national interests and security, cautioning against the broader repercussions of US and Israeli military activities on regional and global stability. India’s Foreign Minister echoed the significance of stabilizing the region and expressed backing for ongoing regional and international endeavors to cease the conflict.
Earlier, Jaishankar confirmed receiving a call from Araghchi, where they discussed the prevailing regional situation. The interaction between the two ministers occurred amidst escalating tensions in West Asia, particularly around the vital oil transit route of the Strait of Hormuz. The area has witnessed increased military movements and strong rhetoric from various parties, raising concerns about a potential broader conflict.
