India to Host 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championship in Bhubaneswar

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sport, Smt Raksha Khadse, expressed their joy at India being chosen to host the 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championship in Bhubaneswar. Dr. Mandaviya shared the news on social media, highlighting India’s growing stature in global sports under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.

The announcement was made by Bahadur Singh Sagoo, president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), confirming that India will host the prestigious event at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Indoor Stadium. The decision was reached during the World Athletics Council meeting in Torun, Poland, where India was awarded the hosting rights for the 2028 edition.

India’s successful bid to host the 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championship marks a significant milestone in the country’s sports journey. The event is a testament to India’s progress in sports, not just in terms of winning medals but also in its ability to organize and host major international sporting events.
