India is set to host the BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting on June 22-23, gathering top security officials from member countries to discuss global security challenges and enhance cooperation on strategic issues. Chaired by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, the meeting will involve National Security Advisers and delegation heads from BRICS nations. The focus will be on addressing non-traditional security challenges prevalent in today’s world.
Delegates at the two-day meeting will engage in discussions centered around the theme of “Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today.” The talks will emphasize the changing security landscape and the impact of emerging technologies on both global and national security. Participants will delve into concerns such as cybersecurity, digital vulnerabilities, and the risks posed by artificial intelligence-driven threats.
The gathering will also entail a review of the outcomes from recent BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies. This review aims to shape future collaboration among BRICS nations in tackling transnational threats and bolstering collective security mechanisms. India’s role in steering discussions within BRICS on global governance, security cooperation, and technological challenges remains pivotal.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is slated to attend the meeting, marking his first visit to India since August 2025. Wang, who also serves as China’s National Security Adviser, will be in India on June 22-23 at the invitation of NSA Ajit Doval. The visit holds significance amidst ongoing dialogues between India and China on bilateral and regional matters. Wang’s absence at the previous BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting hosted by India was due to a scheduling conflict with US President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing.
