Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that India has progressed from 4G to 5G and aims to lead in 6G technology. He emphasized India’s rapid digital transformation and future plans during a Lok Sabha session.
India has achieved one of the fastest 5G rollouts globally, covering 99.9% of districts within 22 months. Telecom providers have invested around Rs 4 lakh crore in this expansion, deploying over 5 lakh BTS nationwide.
Currently, 400 million people are utilizing 5G services, with projections indicating this number will reach 1 billion by 2030. Efforts are underway to enhance digital connectivity, especially in rural areas, through the expansion of Wi-Fi networks.
