India and the United Kingdom recently convened the 15th Executive Steering Group meeting in London to bolster defense collaboration and strengthen the enduring partnership between the Indian Army and the British Army. The discussions focused on enhancing military cooperation through improved interoperability, joint exercises, training, and exchanges in military technologies. Both sides explored avenues for increased engagement between defense think tanks to deepen their ties further.
During a separate meeting, India’s High Commissioner to the UK, P. Kumaran, and UK’s Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology Permanent Secretary, Emran Mian, deliberated on advancing collaboration in Artificial Intelligence, emerging technologies, research, and innovation. They also discussed leveraging the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement to unlock new opportunities and drive shared economic growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will come into effect on July 15, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations. PM Modi expressed optimism that the agreement will substantially enhance trade and investment between the two nations.
