IndiaAI has entered a partnership with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to enhance healthcare outcomes using artificial intelligence (AI). This collaboration aims to boost innovation in the tech and public health sectors, emphasizing ethical standards, data privacy, and regulatory compliance. The agreement merges IndiaAI’s technological infrastructure and AI initiatives with ICMR’s expertise in biomedical research and the Medical Information Data for AI Solutions (MIDAS) framework.
The partnership between IndiaAI and ICMR seeks to establish a cohesive and interoperable AI ecosystem for healthcare in India. ICMR will provide anonymized health research datasets, AI models, and toolkits from the MIDAS framework to the AIKosh platform. This move will facilitate wider access to top-tier biomedical data for researchers, startups, and innovators nationwide. Additionally, IndiaAI will grant ICMR access to GPU-based computing infrastructure at reduced rates to bridge the gap in scaling advanced AI research in healthcare.
The collaboration will focus on co-developing AI-powered solutions to tackle key public health issues in India. These solutions will leverage ICMR’s disease burden data and IndiaAI’s technology stack to address critical healthcare challenges. In a significant development, IndiaAI and ICMR’s National Institute for Research in Digital Health and Data Sciences (NIRDHDS) were designated as Pioneer Countries under the HealthAI Global Regulatory Network (GRN) in September 2025. This initiative, established with the United Kingdom and Singapore, aims to promote responsible AI governance in the healthcare sector.
