Indian-American golfer Manav Shah has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first player from the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) to qualify for a Major tournament. Shah, aged 33, will be competing at the prestigious US Open in the coming months. His recent success is attributed to his strong performance in the IGPL, where he secured three Top-7 finishes and one at T-11 in four starts.
Shah’s journey to the US Open follows his impressive display at the final qualifying tournament held at the Dallas Athletic Club, where he shot rounds of 66-71 to finish fourth with a total of 7-under. This accomplishment has earned him a coveted spot in the 2026 U.S. Open championship field. The upcoming event at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club will mark Shah’s debut in a major championship.
Hailing from a family of Indian descent, Manav Shah grew up in Bakersfield, California, honing his golf skills on local courses before transitioning to collegiate golf at UCLA. Graduating with a degree in Political Science in 2015, Shah has since clinched eight professional titles worldwide, with a notable victory at the 2022 Quito Open on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica. His success positions him as a prominent figure in the Indian-American golfing community.
