Top-seeded Indian Anahat Singh secured a spot in the women’s quarterfinals at the World Squash Junior Individual Championships by defeating Malaysian Doyce Ye San Lee in straight sets. Anahat, a bronze medalist from the previous year, triumphed over her 13/16 seed opponent with scores of 11-4, 11-8, 11-3. She is set to face Egyptian 5/8 seed Habiba Rizk in the next round.
In other women’s matches, Egypt’s Habiba Rizk overcame the USA’s Charlotte Sze in a four-game contest, while Belgium’s Savannah Moxham staged a comeback to beat Hong Kong, China’s Ena Kwong 3-1. The competition also saw Egyptian Malika Elkaraksy advancing after defeating the USA’s Diya Yadav, and top seed Mohamad Zakaria progressing with a win against Pakistan’s Nauman Khan. France’s Amir Khaled-Jousselin and Hong Kong, China’s Helen Tang also secured victories to move forward in the tournament.
The men’s section witnessed several upsets among the top-eight seeds, including India’s Aryaveer Dewan [5/8] falling to the USA’s Yaseen Shalaby in straight games. The reigning Asian U-19 champion was defeated 4-11, 1-11, 5-11 by the American player. Additionally, Brazil’s Laura Silva faced a loss against Malaysia’s Whitney Wilson, while Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Alnasfan advanced to the quarterfinals after a thrilling five-game victory over England’s Dylan Roberts.
The World Squash Junior Championships 2026 will feature the individual competition from July 20 to 25, followed by the men’s and women’s team events from July 26 to 31 at the same venue. India’s men’s team, coming off a bronze medal win in Cairo last year, will be aiming to build on their success and end the 13-year medal drought at the championships.
