Indian top seed Anahat Singh has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Junior Individual Championships by defeating Egyptian player Habiba Rizk. Anahat, ranked 20th globally in women’s squash, triumphed over Habiba with a score of 11-7, 11-5, 6-11, 11-9 in the quarterfinals. She is the first Indian to reach consecutive semi-finals in the World Juniors and is now a strong contender for the championship title.
In the upcoming semi-final stage, Anahat will face another Egyptian player, Barb Sameh, as she aims to become India’s first junior world champion. On the men’s side, Egypt’s Marwan Assal has also advanced to the last four after a challenging match against France’s Amir Khaled-Jousselin. Assal will be joined by his compatriot Ruqayya Salem, the No. 2 seed, who progressed following a tough battle against Malaysia’s Whitney Wilson.
Moreover, Seifeldin Refaay, the 2026 British Junior Champion, secured a spot in the semi-finals with a straight-game victory over Maddox Moxham. Refaay is set to compete against the No. 1 seed, Mohamad Zakaria, in what is expected to be an exciting match. The tournament has seen intense competition, with players from various countries showcasing their skills on the court.
