A joint operation involving the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, and the Himachal Pradesh administration has effectively contained a severe forest fire in Kasauli after extensive efforts. The region had been battling the blaze for days, posing risks to nearby areas and critical infrastructure. Utilizing Mi-17 V5 helicopters with Bambi Buckets, the Indian Air Force, along with ground teams, managed to drop 93,000 liters of water from Sukhna Lake to douse the flames.
The Ministry of Defence commended the collaborative efforts of the armed forces and civil authorities in extinguishing the fire. Night firefighting missions, aided by Night Vision Goggles, were crucial in preventing further spread of the fire. The operation, which included cockpit footage showing the firefighting process, safeguarded key locations from the advancing flames.
The forest fire, which started on May 26, threatened significant areas like the Kasauli Cantonment and the Air Force Station. Prompt action by the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and local firefighting units helped combat the rapidly spreading fire. The operation’s success was attributed to the coordinated efforts of all involved parties and the use of advanced firefighting techniques.
