On World Environment Day, the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces in the Northeast region conducted various environment-focused activities to emphasize their dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable development. The Spearhead Division of the Army organized events in Arunachal Pradesh, including tree plantations, cleanliness campaigns, and poster-making competitions involving students, teachers, troops, and local community members. These activities aimed to raise awareness about environmental sustainability and the responsible use of natural resources.
In Tripura, the Red Shield Division under the Spear Corps marked World Environment Day with a Swachhata Campaign and Mass Tree Plantation Drive. The initiative involved planting native saplings like Neem, Peepal, and Gulmohar to enhance biodiversity and ensure long-term ecological sustainability. Additionally, a cleanliness campaign focused on waste management, recycling, and reducing single-use plastics was carried out to promote environmental responsibility.
The Border Security Force (BSF) also participated in tree plantation drives at various locations in Mizoram, Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland. BSF personnel, along with their families, actively engaged in planting indigenous species of saplings to contribute to environmental preservation. The BSF’s commitment to environmental stewardship was highlighted through these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.
