The Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) completed Phase-I of the ‘Agni Pariksha’ joint training exercise in Arunachal Pradesh. The exercise, held from January 19 to January 24 in East Siang district, aimed to boost inter-force coordination and combat readiness. Spear Corps’ Spearhead Gunners led the training alongside infantry regiments and ITBP personnel, focusing on enhancing combat synergy.
The six-day intensive program marked a significant step in operational integration and jointmanship between the two forces. Participants were trained to independently carry out multiple artillery firing drills, improving their understanding of artillery employment in dynamic combat scenarios. The exercise aimed to break traditional role silos by involving non-artillery personnel in realistic artillery training to enhance battlefield synergy.
The primary objective was to familiarize non-gunner personnel with artillery firing procedures, coordination, and execution of various missions. Lt Col Mahendra Rawat highlighted that the exercise emphasized enhancing mutual trust, coordination, and responsiveness among the participating forces. This initiative, known as Exercise ‘Agni Pariksha’ Phase-I, contributes significantly to developing integrated combat capabilities for future battlefields.
The successful completion of the exercise showcases the Indian Army’s dedication to jointmanship, interoperability, and force multiplication through practical, mission-oriented training. Lt Col Rawat reiterated the Army’s commitment to adapt, innovate, and strengthen inter-agency cooperation to effectively address evolving operational challenges with enhanced cohesion and effectiveness.
