In Assam’s Sivasagar district, the Indian Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) collaborated on a flood relief training exercise named ‘Jal Raksha-II’. Led by the Indian Army’s Red Shield Gunners, the exercise aimed to boost operational readiness and coordination during flood emergencies. The training included briefings on Flood Relief Columns’ structure, operational roles, and disaster response protocols.
The two-day exercise featured hands-on demonstrations of rescue equipment and techniques, emphasizing practical experience in flood rescue operations. It progressed into simulation-based activities on the second day, simulating real-life emergency scenarios. Ground and drone-based reconnaissance missions, Joint Command Post establishment, and coordinated rescue drills were key components, showcasing seamless collaboration between the Army and NDRF teams.
The NDRF units exhibited critical rescue techniques like boat capsize recovery and swift water rescue operations. Additionally, Indian Army medical teams demonstrated first aid administration and emergency medical response to underscore the importance of timely medical intervention during disasters. The exercise also involved the local community to raise awareness about disaster preparedness and promote a collaborative emergency response approach, reinforcing the significance of community resilience.
