In a heartwarming gesture, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army’s Spear Corps organized a New Year Celebration 2026 with children from Nirasoi Shishu Bhawan in Jorhat, Assam. The event aimed to foster a sense of belonging and bring smiles to the young faces as the New Year began. Soldiers interacted closely with the children, emphasizing that the Army’s role extends beyond safeguarding borders to nurturing compassion and social responsibility.
The day started with a warm interaction with all the children, followed by a New Year cake-cutting ceremony and gift distribution. A tea party was also arranged for the children and staff of the orphanage. This initiative highlighted the Indian Army’s ethos of service before self, strengthening the bond between the armed forces and the community, and promoting a sense of togetherness in society.
In another development, a tri-services mega ex-servicemen rally is scheduled to take place in Dibrugarh, Assam, on January 11. The rally, under the theme “Nishtha Se Sewa Tak,” symbolizes the transition from devoted service in uniform to continued service beyond it. It aims to honor the selfless service of veterans, address their welfare and well-being comprehensively, and is expected to see the participation of over 7,000 Ex-Servicemen and their families from various districts of eastern Assam.
Various welfare-oriented facilities will be available at the rally, including Grievance Redressal and Pension Assistance Desks, Aadhaar and SPARSH Support Centres, and a Legal Aid Centre. Additionally, a medical camp with specialist healthcare support will cater to the medical needs of Ex-Servicemen and their dependents. The Tri-Services Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally underscores the Armed Forces’ commitment to upholding the dignity, welfare, and honor of veterans, while strengthening the enduring bond between the nation and its courageous and dedicated former servicemen.
