Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan praised the Indian Army for its courage and spirit, especially during Operation Sindoor, highlighting the force’s achievements in overcoming challenges. Army Day, observed annually since 1949, commemorates General K.M. Cariappa’s appointment as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief.

General Chauhan emphasized the Army’s legacy of sacrifice and commitment to the nation, calling it the cornerstone of India’s defense. He commended the Army’s proactive approach in anticipating future challenges and modernizing for advanced warfare scenarios.

The Chief of Defence Staff stressed the need for continuous evolution, citing the importance of Multi-Domain Operations for future conflicts. He underlined the significance of tri-services synergy and jointness with the Navy and Air Force for effective operations in complex environments.

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi extended Army Day greetings, honoring the sacrifices of soldiers and emphasizing the need for vigilance to safeguard national interests. Looking ahead, he announced 2026 and 2027 as the Years of Networking and Data-Centricity to enhance the Army’s capabilities in a data-driven, network-enabled environment.
