The Indian Army conducted an outreach program for Veeranganas (war widows) and next of kin of soldiers who were physical casualties in Assam’s Kamrup district. This initiative, held at Amingaon, aimed to address documentation-related issues and ensure timely financial entitlements and welfare benefits for the beneficiaries. A total of 122 Veeranganas and next of kin from Kamrup (Rural), Nalbari, and nearby districts participated in the event.
During the program, officials addressed various welfare-related concerns such as pension matters, one-time grant claims, ECHS card issues, and issues related to dependent children and specially-abled family members. Dedicated registration and grievance-redressal cells were set up at the venue to promptly resolve the raised issues. Additionally, a Mini Records Office was established by the Assam Regimental Centre Records, Shillong, for on-the-spot redressal of documentation and service records-related matters.
To ensure beneficiaries’ awareness of welfare schemes and benefits, a comprehensive data-sheet registration process was carried out to verify entitlements. The program also featured one-to-one interaction sessions between Veeranganas, next of kin, and senior military and welfare officials. Representatives from various organizations directly interacted with participants to address individual grievances, emphasizing the Army’s commitment to the welfare of Veeranganas and soldiers’ families.
