The Indian Army’s Albert Ekka Brigade, part of the Red Shield Division under the Spear Corps, organized a large ex-servicemen rally at the Agartala Military Station. The event saw the participation of over 1,500 veterans and Veer Naris from all eight districts of Tripura, showcasing the Army’s dedication to its veteran community.
Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu, graced the rally as the Chief Guest, joined by senior military and civil dignitaries including Lt Gen Abhijit S. Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps. The program honored veterans and Veer Naris for their service and sacrifices for the nation, with various facilitation stalls offering support services like ECHS assistance and medical consultations for ex-servicemen and their families.
Additionally, a “Know Your Army” display was set up to educate citizens and NCC cadets about the Indian Army, showcasing its values, capabilities, equipment, and career opportunities. The event concluded with cultural performances reflecting Tripura’s heritage, strengthening the bond between the Armed Forces and the local community.
The Albert Ekka Brigade, known for its valor in the 1971 India-Pakistan war from the Tripura sector, holds the distinction of receiving two of the highest gallantry awards, including the Param Vir Chakra. Recently relocated to the Agartala Military Station, the Brigade’s historical significance was highlighted, especially its role in the Battle of Gangasagar near the Tripura border during the 1971 war.
