The Indian Army’s efforts in Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Region have led to 50 Bodo youth receiving joining letters through the Agnipath recruitment scheme. A ceremony at Udalguri Higher Secondary School honored the successful candidates, with recognition for the Army’s training teams. BTR Deputy Chief Executive Member Rihon Daimari commended the Army’s commitment to empowering local youth.
Highlighting the success of the initiative, officials mentioned a widespread awareness campaign in schools and colleges to promote the Agnipath scheme. Over 2,000 students from 30 institutions were engaged through awareness drives and interaction programs. The recruitment process began with a rally on November 23, 2024, followed by structured training for shortlisted candidates.
Of the 343 candidates trained, 234 cleared the Common Entrance Examination, proceeding to intensive physical training for the final recruitment rally. The selection process led to 119 male candidates being chosen after physical tests held in February this year. Among them, 50 candidates have received joining letters to enlist in the Indian Army under the Agnipath scheme.
During the event, Daimari praised the trainers for their dedication in preparing the youth for recruitment. He emphasized the collaboration between the Army, civil administration, and local communities for nation-building and youth empowerment. The felicitation ceremony aimed not only to celebrate the candidates’ achievements but also to inspire more young individuals to join the armed forces.
The Indian Army, besides recruitment efforts, engages in community development programs like sports competitions and skill development projects in partnership with civil administration. Environmental awareness campaigns are also conducted in the region to promote holistic development.
