School infrastructure projects in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City of Rupandehi district and Jayaprithivi Municipality of Bajhang district in Nepal will be constructed with Indian aid. The foundation stones for these projects were laid at two separate locations on Friday. In Butwal, the Nayagaun Secondary School building construction commenced with the foundation stone laid by Suman Shekhar, First Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, and Khel Raj Pandey, Mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City. The Indian assistance for this project amounts to approximately NPR 44 million.
In Jayaprithivi Municipality, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the Shree Satyavadi Secondary School administration and hostel buildings at Bhojpur. Narayan Singh, another First Secretary at the Indian Embassy, and Chet Raj Bajal, Mayor of Jayaprithivi Municipality, initiated this project. The financial aid from the Indian government for these school infrastructures is around NPR 139 million. The new facilities will include a three-storeyed administrative block, separate hostels for girls and boys with toilets, and other necessary structures.
Both projects are classified as High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) and will be executed by the respective municipalities. HICDPs have been a crucial part of the India-Nepal development partnership since 2003, previously known as Small Grant Projects. These initiatives focus on priority sectors of the Government of Nepal, such as health, education, water supply, sanitation, rural electrification, and more. The Indian Embassy highlighted the significance of these projects in strengthening the growth and development efforts of the Government of Nepal, emphasizing the extensive cooperation between India and Nepal in various sectors.
