Indian athletes are set to participate in the World Athletics Relays 2026, a global relay carnival with prize money, to be held in Gaborone, Botswana. The event, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, will see Indian sprinters competing against top athletes from around the world. The competition includes qualification rounds in six relay events on Saturday, with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
The top two teams in each heat will progress to the final round and secure a place in the 2027 Beijing World Athletics Championships. India, competing in the men’s 4x400m relay, will face teams from Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, Qatar, Spain, Belgium, and Great Britain in Heat 3. India’s season best time in the 4x400m relay is 3:01.43, with the national record standing at 2:59.05.
In the men’s 4x100m relay, India will compete in Heat 3 alongside teams from China, Poland, Brazil, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, and Great Britain. The women’s 4x100m relay team from India will participate in Heat 1, facing teams from Ireland, Australia, Canada, the USA, Poland, and Spain. India’s mixed 4x100m relay team will compete in Heat 2 against teams from Paraguay, Belgium, Spain, China, the USA, France, and Poland.
India’s mixed 4x400m relay team is grouped in Heat 1, competing against teams from Uganda, Ireland, the USA, Belgium, Spain, and Australia. The competition aims to provide Indian athletes with a platform to showcase their talent and compete at an international level.
