A quartet of Indian athletes, Dharamveer Choudhary, Rajesh Ramesh, Vishal TK, and Manu T.S., impressed with a season-best time of 3:00.32 seconds in the men’s 4x400m event at the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone. Despite finishing fourth in their heat, they aim to secure a spot for the World Athletics Championships 2027 in Beijing.

The Indian men’s 4x400m team, currently ranked 12th, will have another opportunity to qualify for the Worlds in the upcoming rounds. Their earlier season-best time of 3:01.43 seconds was achieved in Chandigarh, with the national record standing at 2:59.05 from the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships.

In the women’s category, the Indian 4x100m relay team, comprising Tamanna, Nithya Gandhe, Sudeshna S, and Sneha SS, clocked a season-best time of 43.97 seconds, finishing fifth in their heat. The men’s 4x100m squad also showcased a strong performance with a season-best time of 39.07 seconds.

Additionally, the 4x400m mixed relay team from India, including Theerthesh P Shetty, Ansa Babu, Amoj Jacob, and Rashdeep Kaur, finished sixth in their heat with a time of 3:16.00 seconds. However, the 4x100m mixed relay team did not complete the race in the first qualification round.

Looking ahead, the Indian women’s 4x100m relay team is set to compete against teams from Ireland, Australia, Canada, the USA, Poland, and Spain. Similarly, the Indian mixed 4x100m relay team will face off against teams from Paraguay, Belgium, Spain, China, the USA, France, and Poland in the qualification round.
