India’s young boxers have excelled at the Asian Boxing U15 & U17 Championships 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, securing an impressive 27 out of 30 possible medals. The U-15 girls’ team clinched 14 out of 15 medals, while the U-15 boys achieved 13 out of 15 medals, setting the stage for a potential historic podium finish.
The Indian boys showcased remarkable performances, with boxers like Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar and Parshant securing victories via Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in the first round against their UAE opponents. Other boxers like Nitin and Harshvardhan Jeena displayed strong performances with second-round RSC wins over opponents from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
In closely fought matches, boxers Yash Kumar and Rohit Pothina secured hard-fought victories through split decisions against opponents from Tajikistan and Mongolia. The Indian squad also demonstrated technical superiority with flawless unanimous decisions, further solidifying their dominance in the championships.
With 27 medals confirmed and a display of exceptional skills and power across weight categories, the Indian boxers have asserted their supremacy in Asian boxing at the grassroots level.
Earlier in the U-15 boys’ competition, Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina, Parshant, Mohd Yasser, Nivesh Pal, and Ranveer stood out with impressive victories in their respective bouts. However, some boxers faced defeats against tough opponents, highlighting the competitive nature of the championships.
