The Boxing Federation of India has increased India’s representation for the World Boxing Cup 2026 Stage 2 in Guiyang, China, by adding Jyoti (48kg) and Aakash (75kg) to the squad just before the tournament. Initially not part of the final government-approved team, these two boxers were included in the Indian squad by BFI President Ajay Singh to ensure their participation in the upcoming event.
This decision allows Jyoti and Aakash to join the Indian team in Guiyang, offering them valuable international exposure and a chance to compete against top-tier opponents, thereby earning crucial ranking points on the global stage. BFI President Ajay Singh emphasized the significance of providing deserving athletes with opportunities to challenge themselves against the world’s best in international competitions for their overall development.
With the addition of Jyoti and Aakash, India’s contingent for the World Boxing Cup Stage 2 in Guiyang now comprises 20 boxers, including 10 men and 10 women. The expanded Indian squad for the World Boxing Cup 2026 (Stage 2) features a diverse lineup of talented boxers across different weight categories, aiming to make a mark on the international boxing scene.
