The Indian community in Norway warmly received Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he arrived in Oslo for a state visit. Members of the Indian diaspora greeted PM Modi with Indian flags and chants of ‘Modi Modi.’ The Prime Minister engaged with the community, witnessing cultural performances and interacting with Bharatnatyam performers.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit included a welcome by his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store at the airport. He expressed confidence that the visit would enhance the friendship between India and Norway. During his stay, PM Modi participated in the third India-Nordic Summit, met with King Harald V and Queen Sonja, and engaged in bilateral discussions with PM Jonas Gahr Store.
The Ministry of External Affairs described Norway as a “valued partner” for India, emphasizing that PM Modi’s visit would invigorate the partnership between the two nations. The visit aimed to strengthen trade and investment ties, focusing on areas such as clean and green technology and the blue economy. PM Modi’s visit to Norway followed his trip to Sweden and marked the first Prime Ministerial visit from India to Norway in over four decades.
