A 60-member Indian team, comprising both experienced medalists and young talents, will participate in the U15 and U20 Asian Wrestling Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, from June 27 to July 5.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has carefully selected wrestlers across men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s wrestling categories for the upcoming championships. The WFI president, Sanjay Kumar Singh, expressed confidence in the squad’s abilities and emphasized the importance of this tournament for the Indian wrestlers.
The Women’s Wrestling contingent is led by Mansi Lather in the U20 category, known for her exceptional skills and recent gold medal win at the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships. The U15 women’s division also showcases promising talents like Vinakshi and Dipanshi, who have earned their spots through impressive performances at national trials.
In the Men’s Freestyle division, the focus is on athletes like Ronak in the U20 heavyweight category, known for his international experience and prowess on the mat. The team also includes young talents like Pavan Dhygude Dipanshu and Adarsh Yuvraj Patil in the U20 category, and regional prodigies like Jatin and Arman in the U15 division.
The Greco-Roman squad features technically skilled wrestlers like Neeraj Patel in the U20 category, who recently secured a bronze medal at the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships. With a mix of experienced and emerging talents, the Indian contingent aims to build on past successes and make a mark at the continental level in Pattaya.
