Members of the Indian cricket team and support staff visited Shree Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai to seek blessings from Lord Ganesha ahead of their T20 World Cup campaign opener against the USA at Wankhede Stadium. Spin duo Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy, along with the team’s fielding coach T Dilip, were part of the visit. The temple authorities honored them with a memento during the visit.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir had also sought blessings at the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple earlier. India, placed in Group A with Pakistan, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the USA, will kick off their campaign against the USA at Wankhede. The team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, aims to defend the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title and create history by winning it on home soil.
India is considered a strong contender for the tournament, having won 48 out of their last 56 T20I matches since October 2023. Their recent form includes a convincing series victory against New Zealand. The team’s success is attributed to their aggressive playing style and consistent performance, backed by the squad’s unity and talent.
In a familiar grouping from the previous tournament, India, Pakistan, and the USA find themselves together again. During the last T20 World Cup in 2024, India faced the USA at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, securing a comprehensive seven-wicket victory, with Suryakumar Yadav scoring an unbeaten 50.
