Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met Vice Admiral Matsumoto Tamotsu at the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Kure Naval Base in Hiroshima. They visited the 7th Mogami-class stealth frigate of the JMSDF JS Niyodo, emphasizing India-Japan’s commitment to enhancing maritime security cooperation.
Singh, currently on an official visit to Japan, led the Indian delegation at the 8th Defence Policy Dialogue. The meeting, attended by Japanese Vice Minister of Defence for International Affairs Kano Koji, aimed to bolster the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations.
India and Japan, during the 8th Defence Policy Dialogue in Tokyo, reiterated their dedication to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. Discussions included plans to deepen collaboration in defense industrial cooperation, cyber security, space, and other strategic areas of mutual interest.
Both countries affirmed their support for a rules-based Indo-Pacific region and discussed regional and global security issues. The dialogue encompassed various defense engagements, military exchanges, joint exercises, and technology cooperation, highlighting the expanding defense ties between India and Japan.
