An Indian delegation, headed by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, engaged in discussions with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to explore collaboration opportunities and enhance defence and strategic cooperation. The meeting emphasized the evolving geopolitical landscape and security environment, underscoring the need to strengthen bilateral ties.
General Anil Chauhan and the Indian delegation also met with Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Abisoghomonyan to exchange views on security challenges and bilateral matters. This interaction aimed to foster a better understanding of the security environment between the two nations.
Furthermore, discussions between General Chauhan-led delegation and Armenia’s Defence Minister Suren Papkyan focused on bolstering defence cooperation across various security domains. The talks highlighted the mutual commitment to enhancing strategic partnership and capability development for both countries.
General Chauhan’s visit included engagements at the National Defence Research University in Armenia, where he addressed faculty and students on global security trends, technological advancements, and the changing nature of warfare. His discussions emphasized the impact of technology on modern warfare and the significance of multi-domain operations in the current security landscape.
The visit culminated with General Chauhan meeting Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Lt Gen Edward Asryan to explore avenues for strengthening defence collaboration. Both sides expressed a shared dedication to deepening their strategic partnership and advancing mutual capability development.
In addition, General Chauhan inaugurated the IT Lab and Distance Learning Centre at Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy of the Armed Forces of Armenia in Yerevan, marking a significant step in fostering long-term defence and security cooperation between India and Armenia.
