In the UK, the Indian High Commission organized a special yoga program in London, emphasizing yoga’s role in promoting healthier lifestyles. The High Commissioner highlighted yoga’s universal relevance in today’s fast-paced world.
In Fiji, the Indian High Commissioner and others participated in a yoga session in Suva to mark the occasion. Meanwhile, in Shanghai, the Consul General of India hosted a yoga session at the Bund Finance Center, focusing on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The event brought together participants from different backgrounds to embrace yoga’s benefits.
The celebration in Shanghai featured a cultural performance and a comprehensive yoga session for attendees. Notably, a book by Shri Siddharth Chatterjee was launched, emphasizing yoga’s transformative impact on personal well-being. The Consulate General of India in Shanghai reiterated India’s commitment to promoting yoga for health and harmony globally.
In Brunei Darussalam, the International Day of Yoga was observed with the participation of various groups, including members of the diplomatic corps and the Indian community. High Commissioner Shri Ramu Abbagani highlighted the significance of yoga in fostering health and happiness, irrespective of age or background.
In Bangladesh, the Indian High Commission organized a yoga session under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” engaging participants from diverse backgrounds. Similarly, in Sri Lanka, the Indian High Commission celebrated the day at Independence Square in Colombo, emphasizing wellness and mindful living.
Over 2,100 individuals gathered in Japan to practice yoga despite the rain, marking the International Day of Yoga. India’s Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Mallick, joined yoga enthusiasts at the event, promoting inner self-connection through yoga practice. The event aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga for overall well-being.
The United Nations designated 21 June as the International Day of Yoga in 2014, following PM Narendra Modi’s proposal. The day serves to promote the practice of yoga and its numerous benefits for individuals worldwide.
