Several Indian diplomatic missions worldwide celebrated World Meditation Day, emphasizing the importance of meditation in promoting inner peace, emotional well-being, and social harmony. The United Nations General Assembly designated December 21 as World Meditation Day in 2024 to underscore the significance of mindfulness and inner harmony in human life.
In Ghana, the Indian High Commission in Accra organized a collective meditation session to highlight the role of meditation in enhancing physical and mental well-being. The event, facilitated by the Art of Living, brought participants together for a moment of stillness and introspection.
Observing World Meditation Day in Guyana, the Indian High Commission and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Georgetown, in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris Guyana, emphasized the benefits of meditation for emotional, mental, and physical health. The event, attended by members of the Indian community and diaspora, featured a meditation session led by Sister Kinnari of Brahma Kumaris in Guyana.
Similarly, in Congo, the Indian Embassy, in partnership with Kinshasa Sky Yoga Centre, conducted a meditation session at the Congo Hindu Mandal Temple in Kinshasa. The session, led by Lakshmi Chidambaram, focused on the significance of meditation in fostering peace, prosperity, and happiness in individuals’ lives.
The celebrations underscored the collective responsibility to prioritize unity and cultivate peace, balance, and harmony in communities worldwide through inner transformation. Indian diplomats and community members reiterated the pivotal role of meditation in promoting global peace and harmony.
