Several Indian diplomatic missions globally held yoga sessions in preparation for the 12th International Day of Yoga, emphasizing the significance of overall health, well-being, and inner peace. The upcoming International Day of Yoga, themed “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” will be observed worldwide on Sunday, focusing on yoga’s role in promoting healthier and more active lives across all age groups. In Kuwait, the Embassy of India conducted a yoga session at the Boulevard Cricket Stadium as part of the 3-day Yoga Festival, with over 2200 attendees participating.
Marking the occasion, prominent figures like Sheikha Shaikha Al Sabah and Nouf Marwaai attended the event in Kuwait, which saw a diverse gathering including diplomats, government officials, community leaders, students, and yoga enthusiasts. In Finland, the Embassy of India and Suomi–Intia Seura organized a Midnight Yoga Session in Rovaniemi, celebrating the benefits of yoga under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” amidst the Arctic midnight sun. Similarly, in the Philippines, Na Heal and the Embassy of India conducted a yoga session in Manila, fostering people-to-people connections.
Ahead of the International Day of Yoga, various events were organized globally to promote the practice of yoga and its benefits. In Suva, Fiji, the Indian High Commission and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining a balanced lifestyle and inner peace. In Colombia, the Embassy of India organized a special yoga session for professionals, emphasizing the physical and mental well-being benefits of yoga. Additionally, in Armenia, 108 Surya Namaskar were performed during a yoga session organized by the Embassy of India, Tovmasyan Foundation, and Luys Yoga Studio.
Yoga sessions were also held in the United States, including cities like Seattle and New York, showcasing the enduring relevance of yoga in promoting holistic well-being. The Indian Consulate General in Seattle shared glimpses of the celebrations, highlighting various yoga sessions held at iconic locations in the city. In New York, the Indian Consulate General collaborated with Bronx Community College to organize a yoga event with students in anticipation of the International Day of Yoga.
