Indian dressage rider Anush Agarwalla clinched a silver medal in the CDI1 Prix St. Georges at the Cavalliero Dressage Days in Hagen, Germany. Riding Straight Horse Floriana, Agarwalla achieved a score of 70.147%, securing second place among 22 competitors. This success adds to Agarwalla’s accomplishments on the European circuit, solidifying his position as a prominent Indian dressage rider internationally.
The recent podium finish underscores Agarwalla’s prowess in the sport and enhances his reputation as a top performer for India on the global stage. Meanwhile, a dispute persists between Agarwalla and the Ad-Hoc Committee governing the Equestrian Federation of India regarding his selection for the upcoming Asian Games. Despite being a gold medallist in the Asian Games team dressage event, Agarwalla has contested his reserve status for the competition.
Amidst the controversy, Anush Agarwalla has taken legal action by filing a writ petition in the Delhi High Court against the Ad-Hoc Committee, the Equestrian Federation of India, and the Indian Olympic Association. In his plea, Agarwalla seeks the annulment of the Selection List issued by the Committee on June 16, 2026. He also demands a transparent reconstitution of the selection committee to ensure fairness and impartiality in the selection process.
Anush Agarwalla expressed surprise at being named a reserve for the Asian Games, highlighting his achievements as India’s top-ranked dressage rider, the second-ranked rider in Asia, and the 14th in the FEI 1* Rankings worldwide. He emphasized his outstanding performances this year, questioning the selection criteria applied to athletes participating in the upcoming event.
