Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar traveled to Cyprus to participate in an informal gathering of the European Union Foreign Ministers. Before reaching Nicosia, Jaishankar was welcomed at Frankfurt Airport by India’s Ambassador to Germany, Ajit Gupte, who discussed enhancing the strategic partnership between India and Germany.
Jaishankar has been invited to the EU’s Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers in Limassol, Cyprus, co-chaired by Cyprus’ Foreign Affairs Minister Constantinos Kombos and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Bin Abdullah Al Saud is also attending the meeting.
The Foreign Ministers will convene at the Port of Limassol to discuss various issues, including the conflict in Ukraine and strategic initiatives on security and defense matters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, emphasizing the potential of India-Europe ties following the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
