The Indian Golf Union (IGU) is set to send a three-member team to compete in the Queen Sirikit Cup at the Sentul Highlands Golf Club in Bogor, Indonesia. The prestigious event will take place from May 12 to 15. Leading the team is Guntas Kaur Sandhu, the 2025 Ladies Order of Merit champion, alongside Ceerat Kang from Haryana and Keya Badugu from Delhi. Vandana Aggarwal will accompany the team as the manager.
Organized by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) in collaboration with The R&A, the tournament will see participation from 15 countries, including defending champions South Korea and nations like Australia, China, Japan, and Thailand. Guntas, with an impressive track record, expressed her enthusiasm for the competition, highlighting the significance of representing India on an international platform.
Guntas, a six-time winner with multiple top-10 finishes in the 2025-26 IGU season, views the Queen Sirikit Cup as a crucial opportunity for growth in her career. The tournament, named after Thailand’s former queen, has been a key event for Indian golfers, with Avani Prashanth’s victory in 2023 serving as a source of inspiration for the younger generation.
The Queen Sirikit Cup, established in 1979, features a team format with three players per team, competing over 54 holes. Ceerat Kang, one of the team members, emphasized the importance of such events in pushing her boundaries and enhancing her skills. Keya Badugu, another team member, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent India and gain exposure to diverse international competitions.
