Yuvraj Sandhu, the only Indian participant at the Austrian Alpine Open, faced a challenging start, finishing with a 1-over 71 and ranking T-100. Sandhu encountered early difficulties with three consecutive bogeys on the front nine, including a double bogey on the fifth hole. Despite a recovery with three birdies, he closed the day at 1-over par.
The leader after the first day was Yanhan Zhou from China, who scored an impressive 8-under 62. Zhou, the youngest player at 18, showcased a remarkable performance with seven birdies, one eagle, and one bogey. His strong start positions him well in the tournament.
Sandhu’s performance on the low-scoring course necessitates an improvement to secure a spot in the next round. Meanwhile, Ricardo Gouveia holds the second position with a score of 7-under 63, followed by Rafa Cabrera Bello and five others tied for third place at 6-under 64. Yanhan Zhou’s exceptional play puts him in contention for a top spot in the Race to Dubai rankings.
