The upcoming episode of Indian Idol will feature veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure reminiscing about her first encounter with the legendary star Dev Anand, filled with warmth and affection. Padmini, who was part of the chorus during a recording, was introduced to Dev Anand by Asha Bhosle. Dev Anand, in a heartwarming gesture, immediately offered her a role in the film ‘Ishq Ishq Ishq’ by saying, “Doosri film kyu, isi film mein isko le lunga.”
During a candid conversation on the show, Badshah mentioned that Padmini Kolhapure was introduced in Bollywood by Dev Anand. However, Padmini corrected him by stating that while her first film was ‘Ishq Ishq Ishq’ with Dev Anand, it was actually Asha Bhosle who introduced her to Dev Anand. Padmini shared that at the age of 7, she had a great passion for dancing, especially to Asha ji’s songs like ‘Haye Bichhua Das Gayo Re’, which she would perform in front of her grandmother and guests.
Padmini also disclosed a family connection, revealing that her grandfather and Asha Bhosle’s father were partners in the Balwant Natak Company. Her grandmother always wished for the next generation to be involved in acting and arts. Years later, destiny brought Padmini full circle when she worked with Asha Bhosle in the film ‘Mai’, where Asha ji portrayed her mother. Padmini expressed feeling blessed and fulfilled during this collaboration.
